Professional Negligence
When a doctor, chiropractor,
pharmacist, nurse, architect, contractor, lawyer, insurance agent,
accountant or other professional is negligent and causes a person to be
injured or suffer damages, the professional is responsible to pay for those
damages. Professional negligence cases (sometimes referred to as malpractice
cases) are a special category of negligence cases. Because professionals use
special knowledge attained from education and experience, “expert witnesses”
must be used to prove that the professional acted in an unreasonable manner.
