Zicam Lawsuits - loss of smell
Zicam, a popular over the counter product that claims its use shortens the length of a cold, was the subject of a 12 million dollar settlement in 2006 because it allegedly caused people to lose their sense of smell. Despite the settlement, the product remained on the market. Very recently, the FDA issued an advisory cautioning consumers about the use of Zicam.
The loss of smell is a very serious and disabling problem that also can eliminate a person’s sense of taste along with their sense of smell due to the relationship between taste and smell.
Because of the recent FDA announcement, many new claims will be filed for compensation related to the loss of smell allegedly caused by Zicam.
