Manufacturer recalls child car seats due to safety hazard

On Behalf of | Jan 3, 2025 | Product Liability

Due to a potential safety hazard, Nuna Baby Essentials has issued a voluntary recall for over 600,000 RAVA child car seats. The recall addresses an issue where debris can accumulate in the harness adjuster area, preventing the harness from tightening correctly. This defect poses a significant risk to children, as a loose harness may fail to secure them adequately in the event of a crash.

Details of the recall

The affected models came out between July 16, 2016, and October 25, 2023. To address the issue, Nuna is providing registered owners with a new seat pad and cleaning kit. If you own an RAVA car seat, you should check the model number and manufacture date to determine if your seat is part of the recall.

Steps to take

If your car seat falls under this category, follow these steps:

  • Register your car seat: Visit Nuna’s website to register your car seat and request the replacement kit.
  • Perform the harness function test: Ensure your car seat’s harness is functioning correctly by following the instructions provided by Nuna.
  • Contact Nuna for assistance: If you have any questions or need further assistance, contact Nuna directly.

These steps can help ensure your child’s safety while using the car seat.

Legal considerations for affected families

You may have legal options if this defect or a similar product issue has injured your child. Product liability laws in North Dakota and Minnesota protect consumers from defective products. These laws allow you to seek compensation for injuries caused by manufacturing defects, design flaws, or inadequate warnings.
